Reflection:

When looking at this lessons design it was imperative that I design the learning outcomes first and couple them with the formative and summative assessments. This follows the backwards planning design. Also, when looking at TPACK I wanted to make sure that the technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge were all equally used so that one sphere did not dominate the lesson. This is a lesson about informational text and essay writing and by no means a how to use technology. The technology is already in place it needed to be used if it were going to enhance the learning process and point to mastery of the learning objectives.

As the lesson manifested itself the use of technology became more and more apparent. From essay writing have all the tools to create an essay that followed a specific format to collaborating on an interactive timeline the best course of action was to induce the use of Google Classroom and Google Apps for education ie Google Docs. Google Forms made an easy choice for real time data analysis and creation to target specific needs.

I can measure the effectiveness of the technology by comparing past work that students have had on this lesson when these articles and timeline was just given as direct instruction. The correlation between having the access to the material 24/7 opposed to just in class will serve as a determination on the depth of analysis when students are able to spend more time on the material.
