This week I had an amazing opportunity to help the 6th-8th Grade Math department prepare for PARCC assessments and practice by demonstrating the use of Google Classroom and Edmodo. This was a completely brand new concept for the Math department and the thought of using a VLE was foreign to them. They were extremely receptive but very overwhelmed because I was only allotted 45 minutes to present and about 45 minutes to Q&A. There were many challenges that the Math department would have to overcome to integrate technology in the classroom but the really enjoyed a new outlook and perspective and many of the teachers will be trying out their new digital classrooms this week.

I really had to take a step back and be grateful to some of the instructors I had throughout my schooling and my personal dedication to technology because the idea of the VLE and platform was very much liked by the Math department but the issue that continued to rise or comment that was made was, "I am not good with computers so this will be very hard for me" At first I was shocked and thought to myself why am I in here wasting their time if they do not believe that they can actually use the VLE or platform. The feedback that I received from the teachers was amazing and really settled my anxiety about "wasting their time" in which many of the teacher said that they wanted to learn how to do this just needed more sessions like we had today.

The feedback enabled me to look at this in a different way than I had going into it. I forgot that and took advantage of the thought that everyone's technology background is at the 21st century level-when its not. This propelled me to create a questionnaire for the teachers in that meeting so that I could get more pointed feedback so I could address specific issues that the teachers were uncomfortable with. As I went through this process I realized this is what I do with my students. I pre test to generate areas on needs. I address those areas and then I let the students create and see how much they have grown and that is exactly what I did and am doing for the Math department.
